Responsible for managing and analyzing project costs throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This role involves budget preparation, cost estimation, financial forecasting, and ensuring that projects are completed within financial constraints. The Cost Planner will collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions while maintaining high-quality standards. Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects at various stages (conceptual, schematic, and detailed design). Evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs based on current market trends. Historical Data Analysis and Benchmarking integrated with Power BI Prepare and maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project objectives. Provide cost advice and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders. Monitor and control project costs to ensure projects stay within approved budgets. Identify potential cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Conduct value engineering to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality. Support the tendering process by reviewing and analyzing contractor and supplier bids. Provide input for the negotiation and procurement of services and materials. Prepare detailed cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis for stakeholders. Maintain accurate records of all cost-related information and documentation. Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure cost considerations are integrated into project planning and delivery. Engage with clients to clarify requirements and provide updates on financial progress. Stay updated on industry trends, construction techniques, and material costs to ensure accurate pricing. This is a fixed-location position based in the New York office; however, telecommuting from a home office is allowed up to one day per week. Five (5) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently): Cost planning, estimating, or quantity surveying within the construction industry Cost estimation software and tools including Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), WinEst and Togal.AI Three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently Construction processes, methods, and materials, including: -Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule; -Assembling comprehensive requests for proposal packages from subcontractors and evaluate their proposals against budget; -Understanding of building materials and construction techniques; -Analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans to determine material and labor costs; -Integration of construction cost estimation with scheduling tools to assess project feasibility; -Understanding of how cost, risk, and schedule impact construction projects; and -Assembling comprehensive Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from subcontractors and evaluating their bid proposals against project budgets. Relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards, including CSI Master Format, Uniformat, and local building codes. Bid Coordination and Management Software Proficiency, including Autodesk Building Connected and Pantera Bid Coordination Tool. Generating detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, and overhead costs. Value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality. Contingency planning and related cost estimation.
